A recently obtained access-to-information request from Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services reveals that 139 physician (medical doctor) position offers were accepted before December 31, 2024.
As of December 31, 2024, there were 230.6 physician vacancies.
There were 37 physician hires in the Central Zone, 10 in the Eastern Rural Zone, 47 in the Eastern Urban Zone, 18 in the Labrador-Grenfell Zone, and 27 in the Western Zone.
There were 70.6 physician vacancies in the Central Zone, 42.5 in the Eastern Rural Zone, 45 in the Eastern Urban Zone, 28 in the Labrador-Grenfell Zone, and 44.5 in the Western Zone.
The data does not include FFS/private practice physicians.
