
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that Newfoundland Labrador Health Services (NLHS) recruited 485 Registered Nurses (RNs), 14 Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and 222 Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) from January 1, 2024, to October 31, 2024, for a total of 721 new hires.
There were 121 new hires in the Central Zone, including 77 registered nurses, 1 nurse practitioner, and 43 licensed practical nurses.
99 new hires in the Eastern Rural Zone, including 47 registered nurses, 3 nurse practitioners, and 49 licensed practical nurses.
290 new hires in the Eastern Urban Zone, including 190 registered nurses, 9 nurse practitioners, and 91 licensed practical nurses.
89 new hires in the Labrador Grenfell Zone, including 78 registered nurses, 0 nurse practitioners, and 11 licensed practical nurses.
122 new hires in the Western Zone, including 93 registered nurses, 1 nurse practitioner, and 28 licensed practical nurses.
