
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that Memorial University’s Signal Hill Campus expenditures exceeded its revenue by $988,420 in 2024-25.
Total expenditures were $2,173,596, while total revenue was $1,185,176.
Of the total expenditures, operating expenditures totalled $1,371,658, and salary and employee benefits totalled $801,938.
For operating expenditures, Signal Hill Campus spent $94,687 on material and supplies, $3,425 on equipment repairs and maintenance, $325,635 on building repairs and maintenance, $2,680 on institutional memberships, $17 on reference materials/book, $534 on inventory purchases, $11,340 on telecommunications, $277,118 on utilities, $17,035 on taxes, $221,754 on externally contracted services, $9,755 on debt servicing, $339 on operating leases, $564 on equipment rentals, $7,435 on travel and hosting expenses, $150 on awards, and $399,200 on transfers.
For salaries and employee benefits, Signal Hill Campus spent $115,975 on a full-time administrative position, $510,653 on contractual administrative positions, $157,428 on employee benefits, and $17,881 on student assistants.
For revenue, the campus generated $607,580 from residence fees, $29,270 from bookstore sales, $545,408 from other revenue, $170 from donations, and $2,748 from external recoveries.
