
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus 2025-26 operating budget.
Total revenue was $30,781,830, including $23,932,483 from the provincial government, $5,659,794 from tuition, $75,590 from residence fees, $984,780 from other revenue, $150 from donations, and $129,033 from external recoveries.
Total expenses were $27,564,930, including $13,567,380 for academic salaries, $8,389,177 for administrative salaries, $5,222,123 for employee benefits, $119,250 for student assistants, and $267,000 for fellowships and other awards.
Operating expenditures totalled $3,216,900, including $884,785 for materials and supplies, $48,485 for equipment repairs and maintenance, $391,070 for building repairs and maintenance, $11,747 for institutional memberships, $188,470 for reference materials/books, $54,686 for inventory purchases, $70,820 for telecommunications, $1,213,435 for utilities, $600 for rental of space, $250,050 for taxes, $189,400 for insurance, $467,400 for externally contracted services, $34,065 for professional fees, $2,675 for debt servicing, $60,500 for operating leases, $7,160 for equipment rentals, $436,937 for travel and hosting, and $108,500 for awards. Internal recoveries and transfers totalled $1,203,885.
The total of all expenses was $30,781,830.
