A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals Memorial University’s Labrador Campus 2025-26 operating budget.

Total revenue was $23,617.

Total salaries were $1,923,487, including $791,794 for full-time academic positions, $30,021 for contractual academic positions, $203,225 for full-time administrative positions, $562,068 for contractual administrative positions, $330,379 for employee benefits, and $6,000 for student assistant positions. 

Operating expenses totalled $1,180,827, including $160,000 for materials and supplies, $7,000 for equipment repairs and maintenance, $79,831 for building repairs and maintenance, $1,500 for institutional memberships, $8,000 for reference materials and books, $40,000 for telecommunications, $82,400 for rental space, $3,000 for insurance, $46,000 for externally contracted services, $10,000 for professional fees, $74,318 for travel and housing expense, $7,000 for utilities. 

There were several one-time budget allocations totalling $661,778, including $15,000 for contractual teaching, a $550,000 Provost transfer, and $96,778 for a student recruitment officer.

There was a transfer of $520,000. 

Based on total revenue of $23,617 against a total budget of $2,560,697, the Labrador Campus has a deficit of $2,537,080 for 2025-26.
