An advisement by the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador.
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, Andrew Furey, and his Chief of Staff, Melissa Royle Critch, spent $6,235.19 on a trip to Washington, DC, in January 2025 to watch President Donald Trump’s inauguration on television.
The inauguration ceremony was moved inside the Capitol Rotunda due to freezing temperatures and high winds. Because of limited seating capacity, some invited guests, including Furey and Royle Critch, were placed in an overflow room where they watched the event on a screen.
