Students at Memorial University have taken to social media to raise concerns about MUN Tutoring, a business that sells test banks and sample exams to students.
On March 28, 2026, Rod Hutchings posted in the Facebook group MUN Course Review/Advice, raising questions about the business’s use of the university’s name to suggest an affiliation with Memorial University, its acquisition and sale of study materials that he claims infringe copyright laws, and the possible use of university student mailing lists to advertise directly to students via email.
On October 15, 2026, a student anonymously posted a screenshot of an email from MUN Tutoring in the Facebook group. The email advertised statistics study materials.
The student asked, “How are they getting access to our MUN emails?”
Another source submitted a similar email from MUN Tutoring to MattBarter.ca. At the end of the email, it states, “If you no longer wish to receive updates about practice materials or tutoring, you may unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE to this email.”
