A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation (TCAR) spent $225,000 on the 2025 Canada Games between April 16, 2024, and March 18, 2025. $75,000 was spent on the Green Belt Tennis Club and $150,000 was spent on Topsail Soccer Field Turf Upgrades.
As previously reported, the Department spent $9,961,000 on the 2025 Canada Games as of April 15, 2024.
To date, the Department of Tourism has spent $10,186,000, The Department of Education has spent $19,039,400, the City of St. John’s has spent $14,917,587, and Memorial University has spent $8,464,862.76. The total spent by all four bodies is $52,602,849.76.
