A recently obtained access-to-information request from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Health and Community Services reveals graduate nurse hiring statistics for 2024. All graduates were offered permanent full-time employment, but not all accepted because they wanted their preferred areas only.

As of February 16, 2024, 168 of the 219 BN 2024 graduates were offered and accepted positions and other applications were working through the process. There were permanent full-time positions available that students did not express interest in.

In the Eastern Zone, 39 graduates were hired for permanent full-time positions and 90 were hired for temporary full-time positions. In the Central Zone, 12 graduates were hired for Permanent full-time positions. In the Western Zone, 17 were hired for permanent full-time positions, and five were hired for casual positions. In the Labrador Zone, ten were hired for permanent full-time positions.

The ATIPP also includes information on the process for hiring and the number of nursing students expected to graduate each year.
