A recent access-to-information request obtained from NL Health Services reveals MRI wait times in days. For the central zone, the data is for the fiscal year 2023/2024 quarter 4 (October 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023). At the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre (JPMRHC), for non-urgent MRIs, the wait time for attended was 289 days, 193 for new referrals, 148 for median, and 240 for 90th percentile. For urgent at the JPMRHC, it was 306 days for attended, 327 for new referrals, 22 for median, and 136 for 90th percentile.

For the Eastern zone, the data is for the fiscal year 2023/2024 quarter 3 (October 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023). At the Health Sciences Centre (HSC), for non-urgent MRIs, the wait time was 299 days for attended, 182 for new referrals, 22 for median, and 148 for 90th percentile. For urgent at HSC, it was 482 days for attended, 508 days for new referrals, 22 for median, and 148 for 90th percentile. At the Janeway, the MRI wait time for adults non-urgent was 212 days for non-urgent, 94 for new referrals, 389 for median, and 444 for 90th percentile. For Janeway urgent, it was 262 days for attended, 286 for new referrals, 28 for median, and 120 for 90th percentile. St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital (SCM) non-urgent was 325 days for attended, 229 for new referrals, 296 for median, and 438 for 90th percentile. For SCM urgent, it was 384 days for attended, 436 for new referrals, 29 for median, and 71 for 90th percentile.

For the western zone, the data is from the fiscal year 2023/2024 quarter 2 (July 1, 2023 – September 30, 2023). At Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH), for non-urgent MRIs, it was 594 days for attended, 579 for new referrals, 39 for median, and 145.7 for 90th percentile. For WMRH urgent it was 198 days for attended, 203 for new referrals, 10 for median, and 22 for 90th percentile.

The data provided did not include inpatients and self-select appointment dates.
