A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services spent $8,140,000 on staffing agency nurses in April 2026.
Of the total, $1,150,000 was spent in the Eastern Zone, $3,360,000 in the Central Zone, $2,720,000 in the Western Zone, and $910,000 in the Labrador-Grenfell Zone.
NLHS noted that the use of agency resources was elevated in April as a result of the CorCare implementation.
Total spending on agency nurses through the end of March 2026 was $376,500,988, bringing the total spent through the end of April 2026 to $384,640,988.
