
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals Memorial University spent $9,285,092.00 from April 16, 2024, to March 18, 2025 on the 2025 Canada Games.
The Canada Games Project Office – Office of the Vice-President (Administration, Finance and Advancement) spent $244,236, Facilities Management spent $9,011,969, and the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation spent $28,887.
As previously reported, Memorial spent $8,464,862.76 on the 2025 Canada Games as of April 15, 2024.
Memorial noted that external funding will be provided for $9,011,969 of the costs and $8,786,401 is funding for the Aquarena renovation project.
To date, Memorial University has spent $18,071,133, the Department of Tourism has spent $10,186,000, The Department of Education has spent $19,039,400, and the City of St. John’s has spent $14,917,587. The total spent by all four bodies is $61,887,941.76.
