A recently obtained access-to-information request from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) reveals the total number of drug toxicity deaths (accident, suicide, undetermined) in Newfoundland and Labrador from 2000 to 2024.

In 2000, there were 11 deaths, 16 in 2001, 13 in 2002, 21 in 2003, 17 in 2004, 20 in 2005, 20 in 2006, 11 in 2007, 20 in 2008, 16 in 2009, 28 in 2010, 18 in 2011, 30 in 2012, 29 in 2013, 31 in 2014, 30 in 2015, 30 in 2016, 41 in 2017, 35 in 2018, 41 in 2019, 45 in 2020, 54 in 2021, 57 in 2022, 73 in 2023, and 22 in 2024.
