An obtained access-to-information request reveals there were 23 overdose deaths in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2016. 14 deaths were due to opioids, 7 due to antidepressants, and 2 due to stimulants.
15 deaths occurred in the Avalon region, 4 in Central, 3 in Western, and 1 in Labrador.
