During Memorial University’s relentless persecution of me under the Student Code of Conduct following my protest on December 2, 2021, the university callously dismissed the insights that interviews with the Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Gerry Byrne and Minister of Environment and Climate Change Bernard Davis could have bestowed upon the entire situation. In correspondence with Student Conduct Officer Jennifer Browne, I stated the support both ministers had demonstrated for my protest.

Minister Byrne expressed his approval by giving me a “thumbs up” during the protest, and Minister Bernard Davis stated afterward that “everyone has a right to stand up for what they believe in.” However, Memorial University, in its judicial review brief, asserted that there was “little to be gained from requesting the Investigator interview those individuals.” Furthermore, they claimed that there was no indication that the ministers could have offered meaningful information.
