At its April 8, 2026, Board of Directors meeting, the Memorial University of Newfoundland Students’ Union (MUNSU) approved a bylaw change allowing constitutional and policy changes during the Spring semester.

The motion states that the one-year term of an MUNSU Board is limited and that Section 2: Bylaws Pertaining to Bylaws previously prevented changes for one-third of that term.

It further states that the Spring semester is a less busy time of year for the MUNSU Executive and Board, meaning that the Board could use this time for “significant policy overview and changes.”

Section 2(A)(6), which states that bylaws may be amended only during the Fall and Winter semesters, was removed.

Section 2 was then amended to add that bylaws amended during the Spring semester require a majority of elected members present to pass.
