A Memorial University of Newfoundland Students’ Union Board of Directors meeting report dated August 4, 2026, states that broadcasting FIFA World Cup matches at The Breezeway Bar generated nearly $20,000 in revenue between June 11 and July 19, 2026.
This represents an increase of approximately $4,800, or 32 percent, compared with the same period in the previous year.
The report also noted that pool table revenue for July totalled approximately $1,177.50, with some days generating more than $100.
The MUNSU Board discussed the possibility of continuing to stream major sporting and entertainment events, including the NHL Stanley Cup Final, the IIHF World Junior Championship, the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards, and the Academy Awards (Oscars).
