Audited financial statements on the Memorial University of Newfoundland Students’ Union website from 2018 through 2024 show that its bar, The Breezeway, accumulated $1,504,741 in operating losses over the past seven years.
The deficit was $145,016 in 2018, $162,467 in 2019, $168,065 in 2020, $157,215 in 2021, $114,655 in 2022, $326,795 in 2023, and $430,528 in 2024.
The figures are from Schedule 2 of each audit, which details The Breezeway’s revenues and expenditures. In two cases, earlier years were restated in subsequent audits, meaning the totals reflect the most recent audited figures available.
