A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that 983 Memorial University employees were on leave on June 30, 2025, the day before the Canada Day statutory holiday.
The total leave hours were 6,921.
Twenty-six employees were on accrued overtime for 185 hours, 871 were on annual leave for 6,128.50 hours, two were on compassionate leave for 20 hours, 16 were on family leave for 102 hours, two were on professional development leave for 14 hours, 38 were sick with a note for 271.50 hours, 26 were sick without a note for 176 hours, and three were on workers’ compensation for 24 hours.
Memorial noted that the data is for all campuses and includes only non-academic staff. Memorial also stated that the data includes employees with varying work schedules, including those working seven or eight hours per day, as well as part-time and hourly staff.
