A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals staffing numbers for Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Centre in Whitbourne from 2016 to 2025.
In 2016, there were 50.5 permanent positions, three contract positions, and approximately 10–20 casual call-in staff (used to cover permanent Youth Care Counsellors, Domestic, Cook, or Food Service staff during absences). 2017 and 2018 numbers were the same as 2016. In 2019, there were 49.5 permanent positions, three contract positions, and approximately 10–20 casual call-in staff. 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 numbers were the same as 2019. In 2024, there were 49.5 permanent positions, three contract positions, and 31 casual call-in staff. In 2025, there were 49.5 permanent positions, four contract positions, and 31 casual call-in staff.
