
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that Memorial University spent $555,036.97 on the repair of elevators on the St. John’s Campus in 2023. $25,549.59 was spent on material and labour by Facilities Management and $529,487.38 on elevator contractors. Memorial noted that the total cost includes preventative maintenance costs and repair costs, but they are unable to isolate each type of costs.
From January to March 2023, $28,476.67 was paid to Otis and $116,269.36 to TK Elevators. From April to December 2023, $103,813.15 was paid to Otis and $280,928.20 to TK Elevators.
