In an April 12, 2024, letter to Ronald McDonald House, Minister of Digital Government and Service NL (DGSNL) Sarah Stoodley referenced the reassignment of divisional resources to ensure lottery licence applications are being addressed in a timely manner and to address any backlog.

A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that DGNL approved 16 hours of overtime from April 9, 2024, to April 14, 2024, to deal with the backlog of 121 lottery licence applications that needed to be reviewed. It takes one hour to review three applications, so it was estimated that it would take around 16 hours between two employees to address the number of applications in the backlog. The overtime was set to be completed at the end of the day, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, from April 8, 2024, to April 12, 2024. Overtime was to be taken off as time in lieu.

DGNL also created the temporary employment position “Licensing and Enforcement Officer” which took effect on April 15, 2024, and is until July 15, 2024.
