A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals the City of St. John’s has spent $7,443,066 on the 2025 Canada Summer Games from January 1, 2020, to April 15, 2024.

The total operating cost was $1,291.544 with $870,000 for the bid and hosting fees, $363,374 for the CEO’s salary, $38,587 for the CEO’s payroll costs, $15,529 for travel, and $4,063 for other misc.

The total capital cost was $6,151,522 with $3,000,000 capital contribution to the host society, $44,302 for upgrades to existing facilities, $12,322,893 for track and field facility,

The federal and provincial governments provided $8,215,673.

The 2025 Canada Games Host Society contributed $1,000,000.
