A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals the lump sums provided to Memorial University by the Provincial Traffic Court for parking tickets at a total of $348,847 from January 1st, 2020, to June 6th, 2023.
The ATIPP request asked for the numbers as far back as recorded data exists. Memorial stated the following why that was not provided, “Please note the record does not include data prior to the year 2020, as amounts received from the Provincial Court prior to 2020 included costs collected for Eastern Health because, at the time, Memorial had an agreement to enforce parking in some of the parking areas shared with Eastern Health. As such, including information on amounts received prior to 2020 would be a misrepresentation of amounts received by Memorial related to parking tickets. The record provided in response to this request are amounts specific to Memorial.”
