Sources who wish to remain anonymous provided MattBarter.ca with the Graduate Students’ Union (GSU) repayment plan, GSU’s 10-year projection for MUN’s payment plan, and the proposed plan by the Canadian Federation of Students and Prosum to GreenShield.
The sources were concerned that the repayment plan relies on a referendum that cannot happen constitutionally and that it introduces additional health and dental fees ($5 per semester or annually). The repayment plan also significantly reduces health coverage, lowering pharmacy coverage to $2,500 with a 20% co-pay, down from up to $10,000 with a 0% co-pay, among other cuts.
The repayment plan also reduces the General Manager’s salary, but not the executives’.
The plan was not approved by the GSU Board of Directors and was provided less than four hours before the AGM.
