On September 19, 2025, the Graduate Students’ Union (GSU) Board of Directors issued Memorial University a 90-day notice terminating its Memorandum of Understanding – Service Level Agreement with the university. The notice was addressed to Memorial Dean of Graduate Studies, Amy Warren.
According to the notice, GSU members raised concerns about a lack of consultation and involvement of its Board of Directors in drafting the agreement. It also cited financial risks, stating that the deterioration of GSU-MUN infrastructure collaboration, a condition of the agreement, increases the union’s financial vulnerability.
The GSU Board of Directors invited Memorial’s School of Graduate Studies to enter discussions on a new agreement that would be more mutually agreeable.
