
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals admissions by gender at the Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Centre from January 1, 2016, to March 31, 2025.
In 2016, 209 males and 45 females were admitted for a total of 254. In 2017, 117 males and 50 females were admitted for a total of 277. In 2018, 213 males and 67 females were admitted for a total of 280. In 2019, 243 males and 170 females were admitted for a total of 413. In 2020, 116 males and 68 females were admitted for a total of 184. In 2021, 61 males and 69 females were admitted for a total of 130. In 2022, 89 males, 30 females, and one other were admitted for a total of 120. In 2023, 142 males, 62 females, and one other were admitted for a total of 205. In 2024, 232 males and 127 females were admitted for a total of 359. From January 1, 2025, to March 31, 46 males and 13 females were admitted for a total of 59.
From January 1, 2016, to March 31, 2025, 1528 males, 701 females, and two others were admitted for a total of 2231.
