A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals the total number of students registered with the Accessibility Centre and Education Support (ACES) unit at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus and the number of exams accommodated by semester from Fall 2012 to Spring 2024.

The total number of students increased from 23 in Fall 2012 to 210 in Fall 2023. The number of exams accommodated went from 127 in Fall 2012 to 735 in Fall 2023.

The total number of exams accommodated since Fall 2012 was 9,235.

It is noted that the semesters from Winter 2020 to Fall 2021 took place while some or all courses were offered remotely, which greatly affected the overall exam numbers.

Exam accommodations for remote courses were mainly administered by faculty, except in special cases where ACES staff were needed. For example, reader/scribe.
