
Memorial University has released the results of its second annual enabling cultures survey that was administered in Winter 2024. There was a total of 698 respondents: 73.4 percent students (512), 25.9 percent employees (181), and 0.7 percent in the other category (5).
33.9 percent of students said they agree or strongly agree that they understand how the different campuses of Memorial work together, 52.2 percent said they agree or strongly with the statement, “I feel that all the employees/offices I interact with at Memorial are working together to enable my success.” 62.4 percent of students agree or strongly agree that collaboration among students is encouraged in academic work. 65 percent of students feel that their academic studies provide them with insight from other disciplines outside of their own. 50.6 percent feel that overall, Memorial encourages a culture of collaboration, cohesion, and alignment.
40.6 percent of students disagree or strongly disagree that Memorial is responsive when students have concerns. 56.9 percent of students agree or strongly agree that they have opportunities to provide feedback to help Memorial improve the student experience, and 63.8 percent think that student achievement is celebrated by Memorial. 45.4 percent agree or strongly agree that Memorial encourages the six enabling cultures embodied in its strategic plan, “Transforming our Horizons.”
56.2 percent of staff agree or strongly agree that they understand how the different campuses of Memorial work together. 70.6 percent said they agree or strongly agree that they were encouraged to work collaboratively with other areas at Memorial. 81 percent said they agree or strongly agree that through their work activities, they feel they contributed to Memorial’s service to students. 44 percent agree or strongly agree that Memorial encourages the six enabling cultures embodied in its strategic plan.
54.5 percent of faculty disagree or strongly disagree that they understand how the different campuses of Memorial work together, 72.7 percent disagree or strongly disagree that Memorial encourages a culture of collaboration, cohesion and alignment, 50 percent disagree or strongly disagree that Memorial takes meaningful action when employees experience an inequity on campus, 95.5 percent agree or strongly agree that though their work activities that they feel they contribute to Memorial’s service to students, 77.3 percent agree or disagree that in their work they are encouraged to prioritize the support of students. 54.5 percent disagree or strongly disagree that Memorial prioritizes the health and well-being of employees, and 61.4 percent disagree or strongly disagree that Memorial is committed to providing an overall positive workplace for employees. 56.8 percent disagree or strongly disagree that Memorial encourages the six enabling cultures embodied in its strategic plan.
