A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals the number of seniors in Newfoundland and Labrador’s personal care/assisted living homes who received government subsidies during the second, third, and fourth fiscal quarters of 2023-24.

In the second quarter of 2023-24, 4215 seniors were in homes, 3663 were subsidized, and 552 were private pay. 185 residents were independent, 2649 were level i, 966 were level ii, 343 were enhanced care, and 71 were level iii.

During the third quarter of 2023-24, 4211 seniors were in homes, 3763 were subsidized, and 448 were private pay. 185 residents were independent, 2661 were level 1, 931 were level ii, 358 were enhanced care, and 76 were level iii.

In the fourth quarter of 2023-24, 4235 seniors were in homes, 3841 were subsidized, and 394 were private pay. 193 residents were independent, 2651 were level i, 940 were level ii, 368 were enhanced care, and 83 were level iii.
