A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that NL Health Services spent $10,153,502 on staffing agency nurses in January 2024.

The costs for February and March 2024 were not provided with NLHS stating that it is a large public body that utilizes industry standards for Financial Reporting, and so there are time lags between when a service or product is purchased and the invoicing for the cost of the service and when the payments totals can be verified and formally reported on. NLHS stated that the financial records for February and March 2024 need to go through this process before they can be reported.

The total amount from September 2023 to January 2024 was $51,103,740.

As The Globe and Mail reported in February, the total amount from April to August 2023 was $35.6 million.

The total amount spent from April 2023 to January 2024 was $86,702,740.
