On March 6, 2024, the spokesperson of the Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (LUMUN), Alison Coffin, said to NTV News at a rally they held, “We feel so energized and vigorated by this, and this has been such a hard negotiation. It’s been disheartening it’s gone on for so long, but this is incredible. We’re going to go meet with our members this evening. We’ll have some conversations about how that meeting went. We probably have decisions coming from our members tonight. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have new news for you on Thursday. There is so much support like tens of thousands of people are behind our bargaining unit of 253. That’s impressive.”
