Following the removal of the Ode to Newfoundland during Memorial University Convocation ceromonies, at least two St. John’s lawyers took to Twitter to share their frusrtation with the decision.
Lawyer Geoff Budden said that it is “always an option for people to just, spontaneously, begin to sing it – perhaps during Dr. Timmons’ speech?”
Lawyer Bob Buckingham stated that “it would be wonderful to see the graduates stand and spontaneously burst into the Ode. Sure would teach those supposedly politically correct uni bureaucrats a lesson.”
