At an emergency Board of Directors meeting on March 23, 2026, a motion was brought forward to reprimand the Graduate Students’ Union executive for “their individual and collective breaches of duty and constitutional dereliction.”
The motion outlined a series of alleged violations, including the failure to provide meeting minutes as constitutionally obligated, failure to disseminate Board of Directors meeting agendas within the obligated timeline, failure to provide AGM notice of motion, failure to abide by referendum due process, non-disclosure of candidacy status, breach of Executive Council duties, and failure to abide by governance conduct.
It also raised concerns that the executive issued public communications regarding dissolution without Board approval: “The GSU BOD received information on the GSU dissolution item after public statements were already made.”
According to the meeting minutes, the motion received six votes in favour, two opposed, and 11 abstentions, falling short of the two-thirds threshold required to pass.
