An email dated April 5, 2025, obtained by mattbarter.ca, reveals that the Teaching Assistants’ Union of MUN (TAUMUN) has launched an investigation into missing financial records and the potential mishandling of funds.

In the message to TAUMUN members, Treasurer Kieran Knoll stated that concerns were raised by President Otis Crandell during the union’s semi-annual AGM. These concerns included missing financial records, the potential mishandling of funds, and other concerns.

Knoll stated that at the first meeting of the newly elected executive, he raised the possibility that these past issues may violate the discipline section under the union’s Constitution. One of the first acts of the new executive was to establish the Committee of Financial Investigation, with the mandate to investigate the financial history of TAUMUN.

According to Knoll, the fact-finding committee will provide a report to the executive in a timely manner to assess the nature of the situation. He said the new executive is committed to increasing accountability and transparency of the union.
