
A recently obtained access-to-information request reveals that Memorial University spent $18,150.94 on its search for a new Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
$5264.50 was spent on advertising, $5676.38 on travel for candidate #1, $2727.78 on travel for candidate #2, $3844.31 on travel for a committee member with candidates to Labrador, and $637.97 on catering.
In comparison, Memorial’s 2021 Provost search cost a total of $60,990.87. Of that amount, $54,337.50 was spent on “professional fees” to a headhunting firm. Memorial’s recent Provost search was conducted with internal support without an external firm.
