The document titled “2024-2025 Temporary BoD Minutes” by the MUN Students’ Union includes the agenda for their March 19, 2025, Board of Directors meeting. On the agenda, there were three motions for reprimands of executive directors. However, the meeting was canceled due to a lack of quorum. Meetings scheduled for February 19 and March 5 were also canceled due to a lack of quorum.

In a recent article published in The Muse that was removed shortly after publication, MUNSU was described as being in a state of disarray. A staff member shared their experience, stating that it was the most difficult year working with the executive yet. Several staff members had taken time off throughout the year due to mental health reasons. At a Board of Directors meeting, a motion was introduced to stop paying staff for overtime and instead give them time in lieu due to the increasing costs. CUPE 4554, the union representing staff at MUNSU, took issue with this motion being brought to a Board of Directors meeting instead of through the collective agreement.

The first motion of reprimand on the March 19 meeting agenda was to issue a reprimand to the Director of Finance, Mahbub Alam, with the requirement that he issue a retraction of his statements and an apology to the staff member involved, along with a suspension of two business days from official duties without pay.

The second motion was to issue a reprimand to the Executive Director of Student Life, Brittney Meaney, for “failure to uphold accountability and responsibility to the membership,” with the requirement for her to issue an invoice for the repayment of $4,789.05 in unaccounted expenses and a suspension of two weeks without pay as a consequence of her “negligence and misconduct.”

The third motion was to issue a reprimand to the Director of External Affairs, Nicolas Keough, with the requirement that he issue a retraction of his statements and an apology to the staff member involved, along with a two-day suspension from official duties without pay.
