MUN’s crumbling infrastructure.

Due to the high level of interest in article MUN’s infrastructure woes (a tour) part 1 and part 2, it was decided to do a third story with more pictures of Memorial University of Newfoundland’s crumbling infrastructure.

    Why surely these must be parts of MUN that are closed off to the public, perhaps an old building due for tearing down. How did you manage to get into such a structure?

    Oh My God!

    I am appalled after looking at these pics of the crumbing MUN mess which poor Joey Smallwood and most Newfoundlanders have been so proud of. I believe this failing infrastructure is not like this because of insufficient coffers, but instead it is due to misspending on incorrect MUN priorities. I have seen similar, but not near as bad, pictures of some of our K – 12 schools but these MUN pics are ridiculous. I cannot stop thinking the board of regents and other officials might have a secret plan for the MUN university to be closed down due to an unsafe crumbling infrastructure. Very many universities have buildings decades older than these MUN buildings and those buildings are the charms of their campuses.

    If these MUN buildings were highway bridges, they would be closed down because of safety concerns. Only a few years ago the provincial government spent a fortune to spruce up the Confederation building because it was showing some age concerns. Those repairs were on-going and completed while K to 12 schools and our province’s only university was rusting and crumbling around the students . Shame, shame!
